Automotive Alignment and Brake Service, Inc. has its roots in Lake Charles Alignment, formerly owned by Frank Sawyer and Gene Borel. In October of 1982, Frank Sawyer sold his portion of Lake Charles Alignment and he and his son,Tom, established their own company operating in two rented stalls at Tom Aday’s, a long-established tire retailer. Within six months Automotive Alignment outgrew that location and took on a partner Roger Sutherland. Frank Sawyer was an entrepreneur for many years, operating as many as eight full service gas stations 24 hours a day 365 days a year at one time in the 1960's and 70's, so father and son were accustomed to hard work. Sales and customer base grew quickly and Automotive Alignment soon moved to its present location at 2012 Broad Street.
After Tom's father Frank passed in 1991, Tom Sawyer and Roger Sutherland each owned 50% of Automotive Alignment. In 2006, Tom Sawyer bought out Roger Sutherland after 26 years of growth, mainly due to differences in management philosophy. Automotive Alignment is a Louisiana-based corporation owned by Tom Sawyer and his wife Sally. Tom is president, Sally is secretary, son Lee is treasurer and is also involved in the daily operation of the business and daughter Katherine is vice president.
